When Peppermint Sewing School released their Playsuit pattern I instantly knew I wanted to use it to make a dress. I have made similar dresses in the past but I love trying out new patterns (especially when they are free) and this one (designed by In The Folds) does not disappoint!

I’ve been having a little bit of a linen moment lately so made this up in some Purple Linen from The Fabric Store Online. For me, linen is a little harder to cut because it moves and stretches but luckily, I had some free time at school and was able to use the cutting table in the home ec room.

All I did was fold the crotch part of the pattern in to make a straight center seam which I think added a cool detail. I also lengthened the pattern so that the finished dress would hit below my knees and just above my ankles which is my fav length. I did have to go down a few sizes to make the fit less gapey around the top part but the finished result is something I know I’ll get a lot of wear out of as the weather warms up. Im a big fan of sack style dresses and the cute tie details just make it even better.

If you haven’t tried out any of the free patterns from Peppermint Sewing School I really recommend checking it out. The instructions are great and the styles are super cute and trendy. Im definitely a fan!
